The Book Bag, Books for Ages 0 to 4 (May/June 2008)

Blue Goose by Nancy Tafuri Farmer Gray drives off in his truck to go to town. While he is gone, the animals paint the farm in all the primary colors: a Blue Goose, a Red Hen, a Yellow Chick, and a White Duck. Then they mix their colors to make other colors and the farm is done just in time for Farmer Gray's return. "If you have more than one child or a child who is having difficulty with the color issue, this is a great book to own." (Simon and Schuster's Children's Publishing, 2008)

Katy Duck, Dance Star by Alyssa Satin Capucilli, illustrated by Henry Cole Katy Duck gets a beautiful boa. She decides she wants to wear it for the day. Her Mother suggests she leave it at home, but she wears it anyway. The story shows how her boa bothers other people. This is a book for toddlers and preschoolers about saying your sorry. (Little Simon, Simon and Schuster Children's Publishing, 2008)

My Preschool by Anne Rockwell Preschoolers can accompany a little boy for his first day of preschool. "This book would be the perfect vehicle for reading before a child's first day of preschool." It will be released in July 2008. (Henry Holt and Company, Inc., 2008)

Sort it Out! by Barbara Mariconda, illustrated by Sherry Rogers Packy Rat has been busy today. His wagon is filled with treasures. His mother doesn't see it that way. She just sees clutter. So she tasks Packy with the job of sorting his things and putting them away. "This was shared with a Kindergarten class (who loved it!), but it is great for sharing at home. It is much easier to truly explore the story and illustrations (like the hidden pictures) when the book is in your lap with your child." (Sylvan Dell Publishing, 2008)
